Yep, and we all know that. Gorda, the mom, was very anxious when her pups were separated from her while we loaded her. But they were placed immediately back with her and she settled right down. The dad, Dexter, really didn’t have any interest other than where he was going next. But he was a beautiful dog, could have been a poster child for the breed. Then we have the no name brother who was about 10 months old and was just a teenager and liked to push buttons to get a reaction. Just pushy is all and he will settle down once the stress of transports are over. Believe it or not, all were dumped at the shelter by the same family. Well their family just got a whole lot smaller. And I believe the dogs came out ahead, as they are going to one of the best rescues out there. This is their first step in getting to a new home.
And Four More
Today I met a transport coming down from the Fresno area that brought four dogs from that shelter that I pulled and will transfer to rescues up north to put them on the path to finding them new homes. They wouldn’t have stood a chance at the shelter where they came from. It’s just so overcrowded with more dogs then they can handle. Not a reflection on the shelter, just the area from which they came from. We can’t save them all, but we can save some and that’s what we do.
