Animal Cruelty Case

July 14, 2011 by Animal Resources

This transport was the really touchy one.

Both of these girls were evidence dogs in an animal cruelty case in Bakersfield. As you can see they have been starved and are very sick. Lucy (black) may have distemper and Daisy (tan) has parvo. I was ask to go to Bakersfield and transport them to a Vet in La Pauta, near Baldwin Park. If these little pups haven’t gone thru enough, then throw the sickness on top it will be amazing that they make it. A big thank you Patricia Raquel for organizing this effort to save these little guys.

July 19 update:
Sadly to say, Daisy, the little brown one didn’t make it. It was so sad because she tried so hard. But when you starve and don’t treat a puppy for what afflicts them this is the result. She was so sweet and all she wanted was to be held. I don’t think in her short life she knew much kindness or love. How people can be so uncaring and unremorseful is beyond words. And yes I know we see it every day, but it never gets easier to deal with. As far as I know, Lucy is doing fine and should make a full recovery. Lucy was not in as bad of condition as Daisy and is expected to make a full recovery, it will be slow but sure.

Brownie Troop

July 9, 2011 by Animal Resources

This is Captain and Lucy, rescued from the Ventura County Animal Shelter in Camarillo. You have to look close to be able to tell which is which, may look like siblings, but they are not.

Captain has been described by the shelter staff as absolutely the best dog ever. Now this is from people that see hundreds every week, so that says something. Absolutely awesome is how he was described. Whoever his new owner may be, they are truly blessed by adopting this fella.

Lucy is another story, she is going for more training before she can be adopted to a single dog household. Lucy it seems doesn’t like other dogs. Doesn’t know doggie etiquette, and doesn’t know her place in a pack. Again proper training at a younger age may have avoided all this, but it was not to be, so off to school she will go and we all hope she at least learns to tolerate other K9s as well as she does peeps. Good luck Lucy.
