On Monday morning I finally met up with Justin at his work at the Tucson shelter where he is the kennel manager. I toured the facility and its very clean, they handle more dogs than Camarillo shelter, but I don’t believe their kill rate is as high as Camarillo. We spent most of the time discussing getting the dogs out to good homes and what was the best way to accomplish that. Justin has a network of about 60 fosters that he uses and has no kennel facilities, all the dogs that are awaiting to be adopted are in homes, so that really helps in getting them ready for there furever home. Well Justin needed to get back to work so I said my goodbyes and headed back to Camarillo. The drive never gets shorter.
In The Arms Of Angels
On Sunday I drove to Tucson and visited with Amanda at the her house and where she does her rescue work from. I visited the kennel area and we talked about her rescue work in general. She has a nice clean kennel area for the dogs and there were about 10 on site. She does her adoption events at the local Petco and like most rescuers, it been hard this past year with fewer adoption than prior years. Her and Tiffinity have worked very hard in getting the dogs good homes. That’s all any of us can do. One dog at a time.
