I went to the Downey Shelter yesterday to pull a Pittie that I know has not seen much socialization in her short life (This was after driving all the way to Lancaster to pick up a Rottweiler just to be told ‘sorry we need to do an evaluation, come back on Friday’). This Pittie was another case of a dog dumped in the backyard. So sad; she was so sweet and just wanted attention. She was very thin coming into the shelter, but it looks like she is gaining weight. I delivered her to Sandy’s in Acton where I know she will get the attention she so badly wants. Then I believe she is heading up north to find a forever home. And I know she will.
We Are Doing The Rottie Collection
As another transport to Friends Of Rotts in the Sacramento area is scheduled for this Saturday, I have been going to different shelters pulling rotties for the transport on Saturday. Today I pulled Mango from the Camarillo shelter, then went to the Downey shelter and pulled a young female that had been an owner turn in for some unknown reason. She was so sweet, the staff really was in tears when she left. None of us will ever understand how people can turn in such sweet dogs. After loading, we departed for the Animal Rescue Center in L.A., this will be their temporary home for a few days. Tomorrow I will go to the Lancaster shelter to pull a 12 year old that was also an owner turn in. After a lifetime of being there for them, this is her reward. Gotta love those people, hope they sleep well.
