Today I picked up Snapper from the Simi holding facility and transported him to Baldwin Park for further transfer to Pamm’s Second Chance Rescue. I pulled him from the Camarillo shelter last Thursday after a private party contacted me and told me his back story. These are the same people that pulled an Airedale that had come to the shelter with Snapper from the same family. It seems that a person had turned both dogs over to a brother, then moved to Oregon telling him she would be back for them in a few weeks. She then called him and told him to dump them at the shelter as she won’t be coming back to get them. Sounds like a real winner there. So he dumped them at the shelter and luckily Airedale Rescue saw them and you know the rest. I will never understand people who treat animals like disposable diapers. Just throw them out with the trash. Somewhere down the road she will pay a price for this. Karma always comes back…
What a Journey
These two are the perfect reason why things must be checked out before I pull dogs from any shelter. Both were pulled from L.A. shelters over a year ago and placed at a “rescue”, which it turns out was all about taking money, but not so much about adoptions. Here they sat, in kennels for a year forgotten about by all but a few. Finally the “rescue” was closed down by the local animal control and all the dogs had to moved or killed. Well the person who put them there took them out and put them in boarding for 2 months waiting to find another rescue. There was none. I came along and arranged for these guys to go to a rescue who I know has an excellent adoption record and that’s where I took them today. I really, really hope these guys find their home soon, they deserve so much better than we have been able to offer in their past. Time will tell.
