Very early Friday morning, I stopped by a house in Woodland Hills and picked up two pitties that I had agreed to transport to the Seattle area in Washington. I also made arrangements to pick up another pittie who had an old injury to his back leg and, as we have seen many times before, no medical care was given and now he may lose that leg. A rescue in that area agreed to take him and provide whatever treatment that was needed. I also picked up a hound mix of some sort that finally found a rescue willing to take him on, as the rescue where he came from wasn’t have much luck in getting him adopted. All were very sweet and traveled well in their kennels. They were watered (ice cubes) and snacks given at each pit stop. They did love their beef jerky, which kept them somewhat occupied. It took us 18 ½ hrs from portal to portal, which I believe is really good time for that trip. We all went out to breakfast and got to know one another, since we had only spoken by the phone over the course arranging for the dogs to be brought up there. Since I need to get back to California, I knew I would have get started soon so we said our goodbyes, knowing we would be working with each other again. I started the return trip, arriving at 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning, ready to start on Monday with another transport already scheduled. Never ends.
Two Chihuahuas On Their Way
I pulled three dogs today; two were pregnant and went to rescues, the other went to the vet to be fixed. Both were a little nervous about being transported and were afraid at off-loading. But with a little persistence they were both transferred to their new homes for now. I am sure they will find forever homes in short order after they’ve had their pups in a safe place.
