Today I went to the shelter to pull three, and this little fur ball was the only one left. They won’t tell me what happened to the other two; adopted, pulled by rescue or worse, I don’t know. I do hope they are safe, as this little one is, but just have to assume that they are. She was very frightened, but very friendly, needing a good bath and a groom. A couple of weeks of eating right, receiving lots of TLC and she will be on her way to her forever home in no time. That’s what people in rescue do, take them in broken, patch ’em up, lots of lovin’ in between and cry when they go to their forever home. They will get another and do it all over again and again. Tomorrow is another day and another dog in need.
The Lotto Winner
Yes, that just about sums it up for this cat. See, he was abandoned on the street when his owner died; neighbors had been feeding him, but the old family wanted him gone. Off to the shelter was his next step, but in stepped a very resourceful rescue person who found Smokey a wonderful place to stay, funded his transport, vet check ups, everything. I picked him up at his former dwelling, still sitting there waiting for his caregiver to return. So sad. We loaded him up and had an uneventful drive to the northern California rescue. Smokey was a little scared with all the sudden changes, as any cat would be, but once inside he settled right in. He will be in isolation for about 2 weeks then he can join the general population as one of the crew. So deserving, so lucky.
