Like her name sake, this girl also launched a thousand ships, but ours will be filled with legal papers. Seems that Animal Control in Ventura County believes they hold title to an animal until they put it in your car. Not so says the UCC Code of California. That’s where we disagree. If they have title they can kill your dog in the parking lot. If you have title, they can’t. Where does title to property exchange ownership? Usually when compensation has been exchanged. Not so says Animal Control. Two weeks ago I paid for, had papers to #6 in my hand and he was still killed by Animal Control Ventura County. To be decided upon a later date.
This girl was pulled on a Wednesday and had to stay at the shelter until Monday, and could have died at anytime in between. We tried to protect her with a pull, but wasn’t recorded by staff. It is too dangerous to leave animals at that shelter for any reason. If a stink hadn’t been raised resulting in many eyes keeping watch on her, she might not be with us today. I pulled her today and transported her to Riverside to her new rescue, Adopt An Akita. She is safe, not many are at that shelter.
