Today I pulled a Cane Corso from the South L.A. shelter, by phone, for someone else to pickup and transport. I was tied up on another transport and there was no way I could get to South L.A. in time. Just because I was previously committed, doesn’t mean that he has to die, but that was the choice. This particular breed doesn’t have a strong adoption record with the public and not many rescues will take them on because of their close association as fighting dogs. But a rescue I work with wanted him, so we arranged it the way it went down. He will be leaving L.A. in a few days for a much better life than he has ever known in these parts. I just hope one day he realizes just how close he came to the rainbow bridge. Luckily there are still people that care, not many, but some.
