Today was my lucky day. I pulled four chi from the shelter and didn’t get biten once. That doesn’t happen often. Usually I get to pull the rescue only ones and at times they have had handling issues until they calm down. Since I am the one handling them, guess who is the first one they take there scaredness out on: me. So I usually get bit a few times before they settle down. But not today. All were so sweet and just wanted to be held and reassured that they were going to a good place. Well, they were and they did.

A Bakers Dozen
Today I pulled 13 from the San Bernadino city shelter in San Bernadino and it was a lot of work. The dogs were mostly fine, scared as usual, not knowing what was going on; but they settled down as they were loaded and just watched as others were loaded behind them. Some were not as socialized as others and they were even more scared, but they too calmed down eventually. One got away from me during loading, but was quickly recaptured. He just did not want to go into a kennel. No way was that going to happen. Well I finally got him in, all 80 pounds of him and he was ok after he saw that bad things weren’t going to happen to him in there. All in all a very good group that transported well to the boarding facility and were off loaded with no other issues. All it takes is time, patience and a lot of conversation between me and the dogs.
