I Guess Size Matters

January 21, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today I went to a shelter to pick up a very large toy poodle. Remember this is a mini, maybe weighs in at 10 lbs or so and always can you carry them to the van, well maybe not this one. She weighs in at a whopping 33 lbs. She looked like a cotton ball with four legs. That puts her at nearly 20 lbs or so overweight. Well, the rescue knows how to get her weight down safely and I would love to see some pictures of before and after. But it will be a food battle I am sure. The shelter says she was a stray, don’t see how, unless they picked her up right next door to where she lived. She walked to the van and was winded. I would say her former owners just dumped her and drove off. Nice folks.

To Save A Life, You Adopt

January 17, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today I went to pull this little 5 lb terrier and when I got there it was a choice of adopting or waiting around a number of hours so I could pull her from the shelter as a rescue. Well. One look at this little girl and it was adopt. Now. So I adopted her for the rescue and she didn’t have to spend one more minute behind bars. Off we went to the vet and after a few shots she will be on her first airplane ride heading north. She will be well received by her new family and will be re-adopted in very short order, I am sure of that. She was so sweet and just wanted to be held. I am sure she was very frightened at the shelter and now she has a whole new world awaiting her. I wish all could be as lucky.
