Today I went to a shelter to pull this dog for a rescue who had an adopter waiting for him. Now remember this dog had been in the shelter for two weeks or so and no one took an interest in him. His last day before he met the needle, all of a sudden there were 3 rescues who wanted him. As I was already committed to the rescue I was pulling for, I politely asked the other rescues to contact my rescue and they could work it out. Remember it’s about the dog, not about the people. As he was going to a good home, I saw no reason to change anything and when I pulled him I made sure he went where he was intended to go. Off he went, riding in his truck and I hope his memories of what he has been through fade fast. I know he doesn’t realize how close he came to never going for a ride again and I won’t tell him either.
What They Deserved, They Got
I drove out to Arizona again today and pickup up two dogs that had been sent down to the desert from Washington state. They were loaded and off to Long Beach we went. Both of these dogs were, with me anyway, the absolute best dogs you could ever have. Tony has some issues, but I am sure they will be work out; Evia, was a love bug and just wanted to be petted. At the airport waiting to load on a Wings of Rescue flight, they were well behaved and loaded and unloaded like champs. Both of these dogs have been waiting in the desert sun for months for this to happen, and now it finally did. It’s their turn now and I hope that they soon find the homes that both deserve and need.
