For those of you that may remember Gizmo – from a month ago when I transported him from the shelter, where he had been turned in because of fighting with another dog, click here for details – he has been with Sandy out in Acton and has done very well there. He is now heading to Phoenix and we all hope a better life. He does deserve it. We all wish him well. I also picked up Picasso in San Bernardino, at a home that had taken him in from the streets. He had been badly beaten and left for dead by the side of the road. A nice couple took him in and all is better now. I don’t know if he even remembers it; to see him today you would never know it. Let’s see know what the future holds for them. It has to be better than the past.
Three Down, One To Go
On Friday (yes, the 13th) I received a request to transport 3 pitties from the Lancaster shelter to Katella Animal Hospital in Anaheim. Well I raced out to the shelter and as usual not everything went according plan. Two of the pitties needed waivers signed and they would not release them. So I pulled Wilbur and took him to the Katella Animal Hospital and didn’t know what was to be done about the others. I was told by Michele that I would need to go back on Saturday (the 14th) and get the other two. In the meantime, it was requested that I go ahead and pull Peanut (English bulldog) while I was there. He would be going to Katella Animal Hospital also. Ok, we can do that. I went back on Saturday and tried to pull both pitties and managed to get one, who was a bait dog and was very skittish and unsure of himself. Well I loaded both Iffy and Peanut up and off we went for another trip to Katella Animal Hospital. Remember these trips are 280 miles each, so they are an all day event. So now we have 3 out of 4 and looks like I will be heading back Monday or Tuesday for the 4th dog. If there had been just a little bit of care at the shelter, two of these trips could have been avoided.
