Once again, today I took these lucky few for their flight to a better life than what they would have known here. Maybe the day will come when these flights are no longer needed, but I don’t think that will be in my life time. So many good dogs die every day in our shelters, their life is so cheap and without value to most, yet to rescue folks, every one is precious. We will try to save all we can, but we know we can’t save them all. One dog at a time is all we can do.
Very Last Chance
Both of these guys were scheduled to be killed this morning if I had not pulled them for a rescue. So close to the edge we have to work things. Seems the stress never goes away, it’s always now or never. These little guys didn’t know what was going on. They just knew they were leaving and wanted to be gone. Sometimes I think the dogs do know that the end is near and there is no hope for them. For some that’s true, for others there is the last minute reprieve. For many others it’s just fade out time. I have seen so many good dogs die and I do believe they know when it’s time and they walk that last mile. May someone forgive us, for we know not what we do.
