I Have A Dream Too

September 12, 2013 by Animal Resources

Most Thursdays I do the public spay and neuter run for the local non profit spay-neuter clinic. This means meeting the few folks at a park, collecting their dogs that have spay-neuter appointments with the clinic, driving them there, coming back after all is done and meeting up with their folks and returning everyone to where they belong. If I could do this 7 days a week I would be happy to do it because this is exactly what we all try to get people to do: spay and neuter their pets. When I say that these people couldn’t afford the normal spay-neuter cost at a vet clinic, I mean that if it wasn’t offered as a low cost deal, it wouldn’t get done. Not that the folks don’t care, they do. They just can’t afford to have it done. We all know that if every pet was fixed we would be out of the rescue business. Well that would be fine for most of us as it’s about saving lives, not just moving pets around.

A Star Is Free

September 7, 2013 by Animal Resources

That’s her name, Star, and she just barely made it out of the shelter, they even aborted her pups. Lucky she made it this far with all the strikes she had against her. She was a good little dog and she was so very scared when I picked her up the following day after her surgery. Of course they don’t give pain meds when they do the spay at the shelter, so I just hope she will recover and not hold all she has been through against who the lucky family that will be adopting her soon. She is now safe and on her way to a better life.
