It seems that April doesn’t like to be left alone, at all. She appears to have extreme separation anxiety. She was taken to Westlake Animal Hospital to be evaluated on this condition and it was determined that training was needed in this case. So I picked her up at Westlake and we drove down to Sunney Dog Place in Harbor City, where I met April’s sponsors and they were very concerned about her future. I believe that she will outgrow this stage as more structure is added to her daily routine. Constant moving around from place to place does take its toll on them. Some more so than others.
Meet Samantha
I picked her up from the Camarillo shelter and delivered her to Carolyn from Fetch Companions Rescue down off of the 405 freeway today. As you can see she still is wearing a large bandage from getting spayed on Sunday. I am so happy that Carolyn and her group rescued her because of her size and being a black dog, I don’t think she would have been adopted and we all know what that means in the shelter. She was so sweet and gentle I don’t how anyone who was looking for a good family dog could pass her up. I just don’t get it. It’s not about the color, it’s about the chemistry. Black dogs have such a hard time getting adopted, please pay special attention to them next time you visit a shelter. You may be the last kind person they ever meet.
