Last week I learned that the Devore shelter planned on killing this “vicious” little Shih Tzu on Monday after the mandatory quarantine period. The previous owner said he bit her small child in the face and she wanted him dead. Well when a few of us heard this b/s, we couldn’t believe it. So what to do? We started up a pet trust for him with me as the trustee. This gives legal standing in court. We applied for a TRO from the court, the first hearing was Thursday, we showed up, were told to come back on Friday. We did. TRO denied after the judge listened to the arguments. So we lost that battle and the little guy I am sure was killed as quickly as possible. These people think they answer to no one. A killing machine unto its own. Sure sounds like what took place in Europe in the 40’s. Probably the same type of people worked at both places. I believe we are still going forward with the lawsuit. It hasn’t been decided yet. It should for no other reason than to keep Hope (his name) alive. Maybe he didn’t die in vain. Time will tell.
The Three Muttiteers
On Saturday I went back to South L.A. with Eldad, Normi and one other volunteer to try and capture the other three dogs. Since we already had the one and knew that the pittie girl wasn’t going to be caught without a trap, we set our goal on getting the other two – and we got them. It wasn’t hard really, just had to be careful no one got bitten as the dogs were stressed and not much in the mood to listen to us. After they were secured we had a chance to look closely at the rott mix, and thinking she is pregnant wanted to be very careful with her. But we came to the conclusion that we believe she has a very large growth mass in her belly area, the vet will let us know soon as they will be going there to be fixed, treated for parasites, sots and whatever else they may need.
