I Didn’t Get A Picture

October 27, 2012 by Animal Resources

Today I went back out to Devore to rescue 3 chihuahuas and only one was still there. He was a senior about 12 years old and was very bitey. We had a hard time getting him in the the kennel and all my time was spent working with him and no time to take a picture. Come to find out he is mostly blind, therefore was very nervous at being handled. Understandable. After we determined that he couldn’t see well, he was just fine, a little nervous, but ok. The other little guy was rescue only and this was his last day, so I went ahead and pulled him too. He was just in the right place at the right time. Both were delivered to rescue and I know they will do well.

A Grumpy Chow

October 25, 2012 by Animal Resources

On Thursday I went up to Lake Isabella Shelter to pull a chow that the shelter staff had to use the stick to capture and put him in the kennels. He was not a happy camper. He wouldn’t let the staff clean his cage and would act very aggressive toward anyone coming into his space. Needless to say, he wasn’t making many friends there. I was asked to go pull him and transport him to boarding to await an opening for training. When I went back to his kennel he started barking, but I knew it was a frightened, not aggressive, bark. I put the slip lead on him and took him out front for shots then loaded him up. He was just very scared. With a little TLC this boy will be fine.
