This is Mercy that I transported last week (August 18). She now has arrived at her new digs and looks tired, very hot, but happy and safe. To all in the chain, job well done!
It Was Panic Time
On Friday I pulled 10 dogs from the Ventura County Animal Shelter to open kennel space so other dogs would not be killed. The shelter is running at maximum with 185 dogs in the shelter at this time, there is no more room.
We scheduled these 10 dogs plus 8 other dogs to be in Castaic Junction for a 2pm pickup by a transport going to Oregon, Washington and Canada. With a total of 18 dogs present and waiting for pickup the came the call I was dreading, “we’re full, sorry can’t take your dogs”. Ok, here we are with 18 dogs, in the heat and there were two of us. Oops doesn’t quite describe that moment of panic. After an hour of frantic phone calls, we found room at Carl’s Pet Boarding in Santa Paula and Bartons Boarding in Sun Valley. So we loaded everyone up again and off to boarding we went. They will be reloaded on another smaller transport going north either Monday or Tuesday.
A Very Big Thank You to Rene, Maripat, Bonnie, the crew at Carl’s and Rose at Bartons for helping out on a very hectic day. All ended well, at least for now.
