Today I picked up and transported two Akitas from the Camarillo shelter. One, blackie, was very sweet and presented no problems. Titan, on the other hand, was a different story. The kennel staff was very cautious with him as he acted very aggressive inside the kennel and the staff refused to go in there and have any dealings with him. So they moved the crate into his kennel and forced him into the crate while he was in his kennel. Then carried him to my vehicle in the crate and we loaded him at that point. He was fine during the 3 hour ride to Riverside County and when it came time to unload we reversed it and moved his crate to his new kennel and opened the door and out he went. I don’t think there are any issues with Titan that spending a little time with him and socializing won’t take care of. At Akita Rescue he will get all the attention he can handle; they are used to dealing with issues that others have caused.
