Two of our dogs will be going on a Oregon transport Wednesday and need health certificates before loading time. They asked me if I could pick them up at the Simi holding facility, drive them to the Calabasas Vet Clinic, get them inspected, get their health certificates, get them reloaded and be back at the shelter by 5pm closing time. Sure I said and, guess what; we did it with 15 minutes to spare. But not without the very helpful staff at the clinic. They were great; fast and efficient. Tomorrow I will be picking them back up for their long trip north and I will have pictures then. Just wasn’t time today.

The One That (Almost) Got Away
Meet Hazelnut, the one that got away but was re-found the next day. I picked her up Monday evening at the Camarillo Shelter to take her to the Vet in Westlake village because she had kennel cough – as most do now a days. When I was off-loading her, she bolted right out of the kennel and was off like a greyhound. No way was I going to catch her. I looked for a few blocks around and saw no sign of her. We posted flyers in the neighborhood and lo and behold, someone had found her, just a few blocks from the Vet’s office. She is now at the Vet’s office safe and sound, thanks to a wonderful anonymous animal lover in that area. A big thank you to that person, from all of us.
